Doubles Ladder

The Doubles Ladder is Washoe Tennis Club’s open doubles event. Bring a partner, play ladder matches against teams of a similar level through the winter season, and if your team plays at least 4 different teams it is seeded into the Doubles Ladder Tournament, with prize money in every division. Everything is run on Tennis Asylum.

No Washoe Tennis Club membership is required. Teams can play their ladder matches in their own area, wherever they and their opponents agree to play. Only the tournament rounds are played in Reno, and the finals must be played at Washoe Tennis Club.

How it works

  1. Sign up with a partner on Tennis Asylum. Registration is $16 per player, and $15 of every $16 goes to the prize money in your division. Nobody is charged until a division has at least 5 teams.
  2. Divisions are set by combined dynamic rating, with an adjustment for women, so men’s, women’s and mixed teams play against each other and matches are competitive. Players who don’t have a USTA dynamic rating rate themselves when they sign up, and start with a Tennis Asylum dynamic rating that adjusts as the season progresses.
  3. Schedule and play. Tennis Asylum finds times that fit both teams and proposes matches, or you can arrange them yourselves. Teams report results online and the standings update automatically.
  4. Qualify. A team that plays at least 4 different teams during the season is seeded into its division’s tournament.
  5. Tournament. Single elimination, best of 3 sets, played in Reno. Plan on about one weekend per round (or every 2 rounds if you’re lucky), depending on how quickly you and your opponents settle on times. A 16-team division would be four rounds. Finals must be played at Washoe Tennis Club.
  6. Day passes. Players who are not Washoe Tennis Club members need the club’s $5 day pass, good for the entire day, on each day they play at Washoe.
