2018 Compass Tournament

This year’s Compass Tournament was held as a fundraiser to replace the deck. Brad & Carol Tretten, the Tournament Directors (shown above), are happy to report the tournament made $1,287 which has been added to the Reno Tennis Club “Deck Fund.”

The 2018 Compass Tournament was held August 18 & 19. A big “thank you” goes out to everyone who played in the tournament and to everyone who supported it in one way or another. Brad and Carol send a special “thank you” to:

• Ray Woolley for cleaning our beautiful courts;
• The RTC members for giving up weekend court time;
• Those who brought umbrellas, Easy Ups, dessert, and helped with the lunch, updating scores, and clean up.

The weekend of the tournament was the hottest in recent memory and large quantities of water were supplied along with lunch, snacks, Margaritas and soft drinks. The Brewer’s Cabinet (Tap Room at 475 S Arlington Ave.) supplied the tournament with beer.

One player was injured. Additionally, a wasp sting, a breathing problem and a case of heat exhaustion were reported. Not too bad for 64 people playing four matches each. Most people were appreciative and positive with their feedback, while a couple less positive comments were received – we’ll blame the heat.
